Tunze care magnet long reveiw

I been using it for a while it is a major PIA when it comes apart and falls to the bottom of the tank or behind the rocks. It regularly comes apart while using it on 3/8" glass. When it come apart it falls to the bottom of the tank because they did not make them float. What where they thinking.have to order a new metal blade its starting to rust. Its a PIA to go around corners 90% time it fall off. I leave mine in the tank with my mag cleaner. Use the mag cleaner for the easy stuff and use the tunze if there is any tough stuff to get of the glass. But when it work it works good. As far as buying one i would go with a different brand into they are some big improvement to it

Floating is patented by Mag Float, you can only make a floating magnet if you pay a license fee, but those in the know, know we just have to wait a couple years and have no obligation to pay a license.

If it comes apart the blade fits too loose, this is an issue of the blade production and we are working to resolve it. You can adjust that within a limit by spreading the clip gently so it locks the blade tighter, the blades generally last a few months and it may very well be the next set will fit tighter.

I generally find it easily jumps corners when you get the technique down. Basically line up sideways parallel to the corner and move at the right speed.

The blade is stainless steel, (Solingen German stainless) stainless will corrode, it is not perfect but we are definitely using a better metal than any of our competitors, again, the blades are not designed to be forever, they last a few months in most situations and they need to be changed.

I really like my strong, I do lose it on occasion on the corners but it works much better than any previous magnetic cleaner I've used. I've been using the same blade since I bought it which was a few months after release.

Thank you, we do continue to work on the blades, both in fit and the material used.

I am setting up a 120 in a few weeks and am trying to decide between the "long" and the "strong".
I appreciate any advice!

Tunze 0220.020 Strong Care Magnet

Tunze 0220.020 Strong Care Magnet

I was on the fence between the long and strong magnetic for my 75 gallon rimless starfire glass aquarium. Prior to those magnets release I was considering the Tunze 0220_550 Magnet Cleaner. The price difference between long and strong is 2x but worth the extra money.

I bring the magnet close to surface near the corners to switch from side to front glass panels. I leave the magnet in the aquarium's lower corner when not in use.

I uploaded a video that includes the Tunze 0220.020 Strong Care Magnet in action during middle of the video:

You know you're a fish nerd when you're talking technique of moving a magnet around a corner.

I line up my scraper with the corner of my tank with the wide blade up, shift the bottom of the handle outward past the edge of the tank, then quickly rotate the handle so that it picks up the bottom of the scraper before it begins to fall. I don't even keep my tongs by the tank anymore.

Long is for up to 1/2" glass, Strong is for up to 3/4".

If you use a Strong on 1/2" glass, it will be far less likely to slip or fall but a much greater effort is needed and the blade life will be shorter. For this reason I would generally use just what is needed, I believe most 120's have 1/2" glass.
