I have an older one of these classic skimmers and I was wondering where the ideal location for these are? Mine is currently in a fairly stagnant area of my sump and I feel that it is not working as efficiently as it could.
What should the flow around the skimmer be?

I was told at our last training session that there tests showed that no difference was noted in skimming when the tank volume was turned over twice an hour vs four times an hour, the skimmer can only process what it can take in. I would consider air adjustment and a constant water level near the top of the marked water range on the skimmer to be more important than flow rate by the skimmer.
