Hi,

I just installed my new Tunze DOC 9010 skimmer into my sump and today I noticed a hole in the back, water seems to be pouring out of it freely.

Not sure if this is by design or the hole is meant to be plugged ?

I have only had it running for about 12 hours so far and the foam hasnt risen in the collection cup yet, I have tried ajusting the air screw but that doesnt seem to help. I guess it could still be in the 'run in' period, however I am a bit worried about this hole.

yes, it's supposed to be there, and water should be running out. You might want to make sure the air adjuster is almost all the way out. And it took mine 3 days to start skimming, but now it's running like a champ...

Thanks for that, there was no mention of the hole or its purpose in the instruction manual.

The foam seems to be rising now, the skimate is a lightish green colour. Seems to be working quite well.

Yes, the hole is supposed to be there. The water acts as a seal to keep the air rising upwards and that is the height of the sealing column of water.
