Tunze Doc Skimmers

Anyone have one running on their tank? If so let me know what you think of them and pictures would be nice. I thought about getting a Tunze Doc 9005 for my 75 in the future if they are worth it.

Tunze skimmers do a good job but they are designed to be safe for good organisms. So you won't get hard out skimming like a deltec. Also dead quiet!

Thanks for the reply. I've seen some skimmate pictures from a Tunze before and it looked pretty darkish color to me.

They are weird. I have one on my office tank. It certainly does NOT overwhelm you with foam, but somehow it produces skimmate. It's sort of an oddity to me, but it works.

No. Sorry. It's my office tank.....and it doesn't look particularly impressive. You can't see into the body b/c the plastic is opaque, the foam column going into the collection cup does not impress. But somehow, there's always skimmate in there. And I like NEVER put ANYTHING into that tank. It's a friggin "ecosystem". I have no idea what the purple tang in there is living on, but he's fat and happy (macro I suppose).

I just got my 9010 on Friday. It finally started producing skimmate last night. I love it. It's totally silent and only needs about 5 x 8 inches in my sump. You leave it on when you dump the collection cup and you clean the skimmer every time you dump the collection cup(the bubble chamber is attached to the cup). Easy as pie!

I will say it's typical Tunze as far as the hanging system and riser. ie kinda crappy. but the unit itself rocks.

It's still new, but if it keeps working like this, I'm done buying skimmers!
