has anyone used the Tunze doc skimmers? i have very limited space in my sump and this would be perfect that is if it actually works well. i expect it does i mean hey its a tunze. just wanted to get an idea of what you think. I'm planning on getting a 9005 for a 65 gallon set up with 10 gallon sump.

If you will use it in sump the 9010 is the way to go. The 9005 is only delivered equipped for in tank use and you have to buy the in sump kit, the total of the two is only about $20 shy of buying the 9010. Of all units, maybe 20 are in use in the USA. I am impressed so far but their probably won't be much feedback, we shipped out 16 more this week and next week I will get about 30 more in so their will be a bigger base of people to ask. If it means anything the guys at the LFS around here are Euroreef die hards and I hooked up a 9010 their and when I went in yesterday they said "Can we buy some of those, I mean they actually work." In part they were ragging on me because they always felt the older skimmers underperformed. This was because the old design was to save planktonic life- great for soft corals but not enough power to remove all the toxins and mucus SPS produce.

so the 9005 needs to have the sump kit? can the 9010 have a flucuating water level? and the reason im not that interested in the euroreef models is because i only have about 7x9 area in my sump. which this skimmer will fit with room to spare.

Unless you have 11" water level in the sump you will need the kit. With the kit 4-11" even with fluctuation is OK. The 9010 comes standard with the sump kit.

cant wait to hear back from those guys that got it.
i want a small simple/easy skimmer for my sump and am on the fence between the Tunze 9015 and Deltec's Turbo 1250

I would need to measure one but it is roughly 4.9 * 7 * 16.8. Height and length are exact but the depth is overestimated, the catalogue specs don't include the sump kit installed. The sump kit is basically a 1" standpipe made of Black PVC with a foam sponge bubble trap on it.

well those dimentions will give me about 2 inches to spare in my sump. sounds like a christmas give is in order for me. hahaha hopefully i can get it early . hahaha thanks and if anyone has this skimmer i would love to hear more about its performance!!!
