for a 6 ft 125 gal would you go with 1-6100 or 2-6000's

2 6000's as the tank is narrow and cannot make full use of the 6100's which would likely excessively disturb the sand bed.

what placement

I have 125gal 6" long also. It has two corner over flows. I have a Gen-x Mak 4 return pump. Where would you recommend placing the return, or spliting them up on both sides? Where would you point the returns, and place the 2 6000's for the best results? Would you recommend the new 7095 controller or 7094? What setting would you run the controller?

I would split the return to each overflow. I would place the 6000's in front of the overflow angled toward the center. The controller is your call but I think the 7095 is superior, it does cost more however. You can read about it at www.tunze.com under Interzoo 2004 News.
