Tunze impeller rotating backwards

I have a Tunze 6060 that I have had for 16 months. I have always had a problem with it starting up where the impellar would rotate backwards. It didn't happen often ,so I would just clean it and after playing with it a while, it would work. A few weeks ago the problem worsened and I noticed the magnet was cracked. I ordered a whole new impellar assembly that I received last week. The new impellar doesn't work any better than the cracked one, and I often find the pump shaking with no water output. I can get it to work if I play with it a while, but again the impellar often runs in reverse. What should I do?

reefkeeper2,

Sounds like it needs to be replaced, please PM Roger known as "Rvitko" on this forum for a repair/replacment you will need to send it in.

Graeme

Reverse operation can only happen if the brakes are bad or something is misalligned. When you replaced the drive unit, did you change everything? Usually if the brakes are OK, the Bearing bush is the culprit or the oring under the upper bearing is missing. An electrical fault cannot cause this. It has to be a simple mechanical issue.

Yes I replaced everything. The new impellar does not look like the old one. The old one had the white portion up near the blades. This impellar is entirely black. They both had the same problem though. I will try recleaning with vineagar again perhaps I missed something.

You got the wrong impeller, no brakes, that is only for use on a 6100, 6000 or 6101. You need part 6080.60. The one you have will definitely spin backwards.

I thought that was the part I ordered but you would have a record correct? Can I order another and send this one back?

If we made a mistake and sent the wrong one I will send a replacement, otherwise it is not new/ unopened so the best I could do is offer a discount on a new one but you would have to do that directly through me and not the website. I will need to look up your order, I am home now and don't have the orders on my home computer, please PM me your full name so I can look it up.
