Tunze Magnet Rusting?

Has anyone ever had one of their Tunze powerhead magnets rust? This powerhead is only 4 months old and it seems as though its developing spots of rust.

the magnets are ferrite, this is the same material impellers are generally made from and it is a ceramic. This material cannot rust. however it can and will attract small iron particles, including GFO phosphate removers and can develop a rust stain as a result.

I had the same thing happen. Contacted the company who said the same thing. Could soak in CLR, but be sure to rinse thoroughly.

I have had magnets fail when the brittle plastic coating cracked. This happened with one of those acrylic in tank frag racks, a TLF nano magnetic glass cleaner and a magnetic magnification viewer over the years.

They can & do rust. I can't say how dangerous this is to tank life but I removed them right away. Supposedly these super strong magnets have other compounds other than iron and I don't want anything like that in my tank. Not saying this is the case with the OP's Tunze however.
