Tunze Mini

I ordered a pair of Tunze minis to replace a pair of ViaAqua VA80s because one of them was making a nasty grinding noise every once in a while. I just figured it was the magnet, but I opted to just replace them for new pumps anyway. When I hooked up the brand new Tunzes I noticed that they buzz a little louder than the ViaAquas, but that's ok. After a short period, one of the Tunzes began making the grinding noise(also only once in a while) that the one ViaAqua was making...:mad2: I pulled it out and inspected the magnet and it's perfect. What else can be causing it? This is bugging me because they are in my 12g nano and it sits on my night stand. So when it grinds at 3am, it's a lil but distracting.

Hmm, my experience has always been with using these in planted aquaria to run CO2. This happens on my pumps when the intake screen is plugged and the pump cavitates. I would suspect it is similar, you might wnat to run them sideways or upsidedown to help purge air and check the intake screen.
