Tunze Nano ReefPack

Hi Roger,

I have two questions:

In another thread you mentioned:

quote:

In an SPS reef more agressive skimming is necessary because of the toxins they produce. Our new design allows the skimmer to be adjusted from plankton safe to agressive depending on need.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Does this apply for the Nano skimmer as well? I am a fan of wet skimming to get particulate detritus out, and I would love to have that ability in my 20L that I will be setting up in the future.

Also, do the filter and skimmer in the reefpack work in tandem or are they separate entities that happened to be placed next to each other?

Thanks,
Joon

The skimmer skims wet or dry, I've got mine set to a dark tea, but she'll do espresso if you like. The two components are separate and mount together neatly on the included magnet holder. I have had mine running for six months and have been impressed.

Thanks for the reply.

It seems that the skimmer draws passively from the surroundings... how do you get detritus to the skimmer? Does the skimmer "suck" the water from the surroundings?

The 9002 is a more passive design but does remove some detritus as water does flow out of it near the bottom and it has slots in the back.

Where does the water flow out on the bottom, I don't see any openings, only two slots on the back? I do get a little particulate matter in the cup, but rely more on the Nano Filter for its removal. Usually I run a sack of Pura passively with no mechanical media except when I increase the flow to create a storm, then I put in some floss until it clears up.

The water flows out through some gaps at the bottom and comes in through the slots, most of the water is recirculated.
