tunze nano skimmer 9002 water level help

On the nano skimmer 9002 I have read that they are sensitive to fluctuating water depth. how much can the water fluctuate with out being an issue? My water in the back of my nano will drop about a half an inch before ATO tops it off. Should this be an issue or as long as it stays within the recommended depth range it should be ok?

I have mine in the back of my Finnex 30 M tank. Water level can drop 1/4 inch or so below the line before it acts up. Has been performing like a champion the last two weeks.

Anything less than a 1/2" should be OK, alot depends on how fast the water level changes, theoretically up to 1" is OK but if it changes quickly the skimming will be disturbed and you won't get good results.
