Tunze Nano thread

lol..

I think the 6025's will be adequate, the only question is if they will be overly so. :)

thanks for the feedback guys.

they wont be too much remember its 680gph from a very wide hole not as much pressure as you would think i have a mushroom 7 inchs from a 6025 and it is not getting blown around its gentle current

!!!!!!!

!!!!!!!

i checked it in the basement, it had come significantly quieter in in less then 24 hours, so i took it apart, tapped the shaft very lightly with a rubber mallet, when i say lightly i mean held the pump in hand and barely tapped, plugged it in, it was very quiet, put it in my tank, its almost silent, good enough to sleep with

it looks great, and has perfect flow for my tank, i noticed the water leaving it has a clockwise spin on it if your looking at it from the front, and i think this spin makes it more random, if you look at my GSP with is about 12" away, 9" below the flow it pulses, every now and then a huge "gust" of water htis it and makes it blow sidweways, otehrwise its swaying back and forth, its perfect for a 29 gallon

the only thing i have to say that sucks is to get perfect flow over my SPS, i have no surface agitation, and with my new canopy being currently built it will heat up the water, i like the look of only 1 pump in the tank, though it does leave nasty surface film too

i think ill have to put in a corner overflow to for the fuge feed pump to get more surface movement, then maybe a pump in the fuge pointed up to get more evap.

but anyone with noise issues, give the shaft a light tap, works wonders:)

What do you guys recommend for a 125? mixed reef sps, lps, softies and clams? right now I have 2 MJ mods and 2 MJ 1200, I'm just getting sick looking at them. Can I make waves with the tunze nano and a controller?

maxi mods push tons of water to match that with tunze 3 will work and yes you can have more than 3 on a tunze multicontroller

hey guys do you think 2 of the 6025 would be too much in my 30 gal cube, mostly sps.

lol, guess you missed the entire page where we were discussing 30 gallon cubes? :)

I didn't read the whole thread, but I did want to throw my 2 cents in, since I did have a great experience with these.

I have a 47 gallon mixed reef that had two maxijet 1200's for flow as well as the return pump (small one)...The flow was kinda low, so I decided to mod the two maxijets. Wow big mistake, even one of them would blow sand violently around my tank like a whirlpool.

So I took the plunge and got a pair of 6025's. All I can say is wow. They quieted down after one day and became silent and provide alot of evenly dispursed flow. The difference was night and day, sps polyp extension has increased, and my anemones, softies, and lps seem to all enjoy the extra flow. My fiji leather puffed up an entire extra inch b/c of the flow!

So all in all I give them 5 out of 5 so far. We'll see if that changes in the long run. Also these pumps dropped the temp in my tank by almost 2 whole degrees. I'm not sure if they surface agitation increased evap or if they are just more efficient pumps, or the combo of the two, but I had a drop in night temps with the heater off to test and wow... big diff.
