Tunze Nano Wavebox ?

I have a 180 with 4 Tunze 6025's on Sea Swirls that provide a nice amount of random flow. I was looking into adding a Tunze Nano Wavebox to create a wave and hopefully hit some areas that don't with the 6025's.

Will the Nano Wavebox be big enough to make a decent wave? I like it because of it's size, I can't fit the bigger wavebox in.

I could not say for sure as I have not tried, it will likely work based on feedback I have recieved, but it may not work as well as hoped.

It will work but it will be hard to dial in. If you have lots of live rock in the tank, you may have to get the larger box.

Bigger tank = longer time for the wave to build up. You may have to way up to 2-3 mins for the wave to form up in between every adjustment. Basically speaking we are trying to put a 4 cylinders motor into a truck and try to make it run at 80mph. It will achieve the goal but it will take time to build up the speed. Sorry for my lame example :D

no, that makes sense totally. now will that 4 cylinder truck break down if I push it that hard or is it just a dialing in problem? Will I ruin the pump trying?

NO. The pump will perform at normal speed. Just dialing is a bit hard cuz most of us want to hurry to get the wave going.

I think you've got too much "random" water movement to be able to find proper resonance for the Nano to do it's thing.

The wavebox isn't about adding another powerhead to push more water around, but about creating a system-wide wave.

All the other circulation devices will hinder your ability to find the exact resonance to create the wave motion.

My experience is that the nano's wave negates the need for the other random circulation pumps.

I'm using two on my cube Pat, but that's because of the width. For the size these things are pretty impressive.

I think one will work on your 180, but as Steve says it will take some patience dialing it in.

Thanks Mike, I may have to get one of these. Do you think the nano wavebox will battle to much with the 6025's like Bud said?
