Tunze or Eco??

that the noise issue would have been addressed by now, but I stand corrected. It's really too bad, but it is what it is.

It does only affect a small amount of us, maybe 10% of hobbyists I have met have the desire for a tank as quiet as I want. To others...a gurgling, whirring, humming, buzzing, and splashing setup is just the way it is. I use siphon overflows, melamine lined stand, and go out of my way to find silent equipment. I used to almost enjoy the noise myself. But I have visited other reefers houses and looked in disbelief at them at the noise level...I never comment since it is their call, but my god man, I'd lose my mind! Most every reefer I have had swing by my place has immediately commented on the silence and asked how I do it :)

I could also hear the 1st Vortech i had about 18 feet away, and also 2/3 the way up into a hallway. I had 2 heads back then saying that, but at least it is known now that if you have a silent tank or low tolrance to noise...Vortechs may bother you. I have owned Tunze 6000s, 6100s, 6101s, 6055s, 6025, 6045, and 6105s....I have yet to find one anywhere near annoying.

We had a visitor comment on how loud the Vortech was and said that it would annoy the hell out of him. The basement is dead silent otherwise. You can't honestly hear anything in/on our tank when running normally. I spent many hours getting it to that point. We like to enjoy the visual aspect of the tank, not the noise......

I've had great success with the Tunze stream line (6060, 6080, 6100, 6105, and 6065) over time. Always quiet and reliable.

I have tried a few version of th MP-40 and the noise has alwasy been an issue for me too. I did just add a MP-40wES and found it quiet... but ONLY by running it at max of 80% would that occur. Otherwise, motor noise and vibration was unaccceptable.

I am using it with a 6105 and a 6065; it's the best of both worlds!

PS Both companies have just wonderful customer service.... best in class!
