Tunze Osmolater Problem

Hello Roger, I bought the Tunze Osmolator 3155 about 5 years ago. I've replaced the pump once, but other than that it has worked fine until today. I'm having the same problem as others i've read on here and I think it's the optic sensor. The green water level light stays on even though the water level has dropped where the unit should be turning on the pump. The high level alarm sensor still works. When I plug it in, it has the green and yellow light as it usually does when I first start it, then it turns to only the green and the pump stops. I have cleaned the sensor with vinegar and it's perfectly clean now, but it did not fix it. I know it's old, but I would still like to get it repaired rather than have to buy a new one. Thanks for your help.

I'm having the same problem on my son tank. It was working fine 2 days ago. The unit is a yrs. old. How do we mix this problem.

Thx

Jeff,

My guess is the optic sensor is just failing, it uses infared LED's and they last along time but do eventually fail running 24/7. We can try a replacement and see if that fixes it, a new optic sensor runs $55 installed.

Thi7b, I need more information, it looks like you omitted how many years old it is, have you tried just soaking the optic sensor in vinegar.

Roger,
I believed the unit is a yrs. old. When I turn it off then on. I can hear the pump then stop. The light lite yellow and green for awhile then green. The water line is below the sensor.

What you describe would indicate a circuit board issue and not a sensor issue. This is usually caused by the capacitor for the sensor being bad or it can be caused by the PTC which is a sort of thermal circuit breaker that kills the pump if it draws too much current, corroded wires or a corroded pump connector or dead pump can cause this or the PTC can just be bad. This can be fixed. I would need the pump and controller to diagnose it.

I am having the same exact issue as well. My unit is 3+ years old. I kept thinking that the eye is calcified but vinegar does not work and the eye is always clean anyways. I really have been fighting this since I purchased the unit, just thought the ato's were not as great as everybody told me or I had purchased a lemon.
I hope I can get it repaired and it works properly for a fair price. I hate to spend money on repairs and then I end up buying a new unit.
If you sent yours in for repairs let me know the status and turn around time please. I dose kalk to offset the low ph from a my calcium reactor so I need a fast turn around.
