Tunze Osmolator 3155 Won't stop pumping water.

My Tunze Osmolator has worked fine ever since I got it, which is about 2 months. It has worked flawlessly. Yesterday I switched from a 7 gallon top-off container to a 20 gallon top off container. I unplugged the unit and unhooked the pump so that I could route the wires through the hole in the top off container. I then reconnected the wire and pump hose and plugged it back in. I plugged it back in and walked away thinking it was fine. A couple minutes later my alarm is going off, and when I looked the pump was just overflowing the return area of my sump. It won't shut off.

I've read the manual, which tells me absolutely nothing. I disconnected the hose and wires and tried setting it up again thinking I did something incorrectly. But it does the same thing. It just keeps pumping. Not sure what to do now but any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Is the pump actually running, or is water siphoning from your ato container to the tank? You say you got a bigger container, which may be taller than the old one, so if you are topping off into a sump, you may need to raise the output hose to stop it from siphoning.

I've never used this ato, but thought I'd give you my $.02, as I think this is a "feature" of almost every ato. :)

What Cordell said.

If the hose ends at a lower point than the water level in the reservoir, water will siphon until the levels are equal. No safety can stop this except gravity, you must either use a shorter reservoir or route the hose to a higher point, like the tank or overflow box.

Thanks!

Thanks!

You are both exactly correct. I just need a larger topoff container. I will try to find a short, wide container. Once I lowered the level in this larger container it stopped the problem.

Thanks so much for your help!
