hey guys,

just got a TUNZE osmolator 3155 and was wondering if i could use a 200Lt drum i just got for the topup reservoir? this would mean that i could go for a few months without having to "topup" my tank!

but... i know there are risks involved in doing this and wondering whether people have experienced any problems using the TUNZE osmolator! and or using a large topup reservoir!

The reservoir size is a safety factor, if something does go wrong which even though this unit has two safeties is possible, it could get wet and short, a power surge could have an effect on the unit, I think it is very dangerous. Be absolutely sure the reservoir is below what you are pumping to or the problem of a siphon is guaranteed to make a big mess.

thanks for the reply roger!

one more question. can i join the wires between the pump and the controller?

i want to put the topup reservoir outside and run a line into the house!

cheers!

Yes. Now, their is a problem with having a really long hose though, it can be very difficult for the pump to purge out the air in a very long line, just keep in mind you may have to jiggle the pump and tip it upside down every time it runs dry to reprime the pump.
