Tunze osmolator not working

Hey guys as it says, I have the Tunze osmolator with the 5017 controller. Basically what happens is that I plug it in, the pump kicks on for a few seconds like normal, and then the "too low" light flashes (regardless of the water level to the optical sensor. So my question is what can I do to fix this or can anyone get me the contact info for anyone at Tunze. I've heard of a guy named roger that gets his name tossed around a bit but can't seem to find his contact info. Thanks in advance

Roger used to be the guy. Talked to him on phone several years ago. Super nice and knowledgeable.

Are you running this system?

I don't run it anymore. Ran it for two years.

Sitting in my garage. My RSM S-400 has built in ATO reservoir.

The only thing I used to have to was clean the optical eye sensor and it would straighten out the controller.

Have you checked out and and cleaned the "entire" sensor system?

That's all I got for ya.

Yup that's the exact one I have, I've had it for over a year. How do I clean it? And what does the "entire" sensor system mean, like the float switch and on the computer board?

It's been a long time since I ran it.

Give me a minute to look over the one in my garage to jog the memory...

Alright I'm Back...

I would clean out they donut sensor for salt creep. Making it slide up and down freely.

Then I would get a film coating or algae build up on the optical probe next the the donut.
So I would "gently" clean with tap water and a scrubby aquarium glass cleaner pad.

Reinstall and my controller would straighten out. If you have to totally remove the magnets then be careful, They'll pinch your finger like nobodies business!

If this doesn't help your controller then I don't have anymore help.

Let me know if it works or not.

Unfortunately my optical sensor is still acting weird, I think I'm going to try and contact Tunze to see about getting a new one

Had a similar problem with mine today. Unplug and plug back in, it would run and stop. Cleaned the sensor, and it did the same thing. After a couple more rounds of unplugging and reconnecting it seems to be working. I am concerned though, as the unit was reading "too high" for no reason. The float switch was seated. Anyone else had these issues and has a solution?

Yea I don't know what's going on with mine, I'm going to contact Tunze this week and try to order an optical sensor and see if that works, right now I'm using a DIY auto top off using a relay and a float switch and so far it's working pretty good, but I've only had it up for two weeks so I can't recommend how it'll do in the long run, but for now it's great until I get my Tunze ATO working

Have you tried soaking sensor in cup of vinegar for 15 minutes or so and using toothbrush to clean sensor? That usually works for me. Otherwise, I'd definitely contact Roger on Tunze forum on this site.

Good luck,

Mike
