Tunze Osmolator Pump

Is it normal if the osmolator looses prime that you would need to sipon the tube to get it running. This happens every time on my month old pump. I am not impressed. The 5gal holding container sits right next to my sump it not like it has to be lifted a long height?

Is it running dry when this happens? If so then yes... air is getting trapped which needs removed, turning it upside down underwater will always release the bubbles. If the pump doesn't run dry this should not happen.

This usually starts when I change 5 gal RO containers. Remove from old tub and put in other. I assume its loosing its prime when removed and placed in other container. Once it picks up prime its good to go entire time until I switch containers again... I guess what I was expecting is to drop pump in new container and expect it to pick up prime on its own

sorry I had a bit of a typo in my last post I ment to say turning the pump upside down underwater will remove the bubbles. This will probably be easiest so that each time you move the pump turn it upside for a second in the new full container to shake any air out and it will start on its own.

If you change containers and the pump drains completely, this is likely to happen. What I have always done is just refill my container from a 5 gallon jug before it is totally empty, this sidesteps this issue completely. If the pump gets air inside it, it does have to be primed.

For $200 it would be nice if this unit had a sensor that would alert BEFORE it ran dry... like the $80 JBJ does. Would also be nice if the pump were small enough that it could be dropped down into a watercooler style container.
