Tunze Salt

Roger,

The instructions on the bag of the Tunze salt state it will make 63 US gallons at 1.020. How many gallons of salt water will it make at 1.026, as, in my opinion, 1.020 is inadequate for a reef tank? I know it will be less than 63 gallons, but, don't know how to calculate it.

I would guess at 20/26 x 63 = 48.5 or so?

I am not sure, my guess would be roughly what Boca Rat said, 1.020/1.026 * 63 which gives an answer of about 62. Though logically I think it should make about 58-60 gallons at 1.026. I would probably start with 55 gallons of water and add salt until you get the reading you desire.

I agree, 1.020 is only listed as a standard reference that most salt companies use so you can compare how much product is in a bag and is not a recommended level for a reef tank.
