tunze stream 6000 too much flow for a 55 gal?

Hi,

I currently have a standard 55 gallon tank and am looking to improve water circulation. I would like a tunze stream 6000, but I am concerend of it creating too much current in my tank. Would this be all right, or would this pump blow the scales off my fish.

It won't blow the scales off the fish but you probably won't be able to keep any sand down. I would not recommend it, wait for the nano streams or get a 7400/2

I have the 6060 for my 55 gallon, and its just right.

6000 would blow your glass aquarium apart.

The 6000 is better than the 6060 as the top flow is about the same but the 6000 can be turned down. I still prefer the 7400/2 or nano streams for such a narrow tank.

6060- 1600gph
6000- 700-1850gph

Ive got a 6100 on my 55 gal and it does fine. Have it centered on the back wall blowing strait forward.
