Tunze wave box

Yeah I already replaced the drive unit and the foam ring a few weeks ago per your recommendation and I filled the tank with freshwater to try and break in the wavebox. I'm not sure if maybe I got a bad unit but its actually louder than the old one.

I can't rule that out but I would double check that all parts are present and that the bushings 3000.610 and 3000.620 were replaced and the old ones removed. If the small oring 3000.612 was left out or is on top of 3000.610 instead of under it, that can make a lot of noise. Oddly I have found that prying out the 3000.620 and rotating it 180 degrees can sometimes reduce noise issues, it can be installed in 2 positions and there is no right or wrong but often one is quieter.

Yeah I've tried rotating the outer bushing too. Every once in a while, there's also a sound that comes from the pump that sounds almost like that little "ting" that comes from a fluorescent tube coming on.

I would be happy to have a look at the pump if you sent it in, but I am at a loss otherwise.

They all have that blemish to some degree, that is the point that the plastic is injected in the mold. That point would not contact anything so it should have no effect, if it is raised, I would just trim it off but if it is a chip, it wouldn't be the cause. Generally the issue will be at the interface with parts 3000.610 or 3000.620.

Yeah I'm at a loss. I just kind of ran my fingernail over it to flatten it a bit and then put it all back together. It was more quiet for a few minutes but its back to the same level as before. It's not really a big deal I just want to be sure it isn't something that's going to cause mechanical issues.

It won't, it just is annoying, if I had to guess the issue is a loose fit of 3000.620, what complicates this is that some times the part to change is 3000.610 as it may be too thin or thick so the prop rides higher or lower, it may be worth trying the ones you removed if you still have them. Try the 3000.610 first (part at the bottom of the hole over the oring) if no luck, go back to the new one and try changing the 3000.620, but before doing this check that the widest part of the magnet assembly is not so tight it cannot spin, it should just barely slip through.
