Tunze wave control "clicking" normal?

Hi I have 2 6095 pumps on a 7092 controller. Each time it cycles there is an audible click or pop that's heard from the adjacent room. The pumps themselves are silent, but the click is heard when activated. If this is "normal" I'm ok with that even though it's rather annoying. I just want to make sure it's ok. I can understand with a controller the gradual ramping would be more quiet than the on/off of this one. Any comments appreciated. Thanks!

I believe Tunze prop pumps weren't meant for stop and start cycling. The prop needs to spin in only one direction to work - powerheads like maxi-jets will work if the impeller spins in either direction. So, the Tunzes have a built-in brake that prevents the impeller from spinning the wrong way - which I believe is the click you are hearing. I think you'll prematurely wear out the pumps with on-off cycling vs ramp up-down cycling.

Are they relatively new? Mine made a click each time the prop stopped at first but now the click has subsided.

If they are not meant for that then why would Tunze make a controller like that? I agree it does sound like it will damage the pump long term.

So I took it off the controller until I can get confirmation this is normal and won't hurt the pumps. Pumps are dead silent.

They are absolutely meant to stop and start. Like I said before, mine clicked in the beginning but it subsided with time.

Ok, so I figured out its one pump that's clicking on pulse. On constant speed it's silent. I took it apart and everything seems to be in great shape. The impeller looks good. There is a little play in the propeller I'm assuming that's normal? There's also a rubber bushing on the shaft that sits between the impeller and the pump base. Am I missing something? Anything to check/test?

It won't harm the pump, either the propeller has excessive play or a 2nd disk is needed below the prop magnet. Try swapping the prop, if it follows the prop we need to send a new prop.
