Tunze Wavebox arrived ** HELP **

Just recieved my brand new wavebox, opened up and mess around with it.

Installed into my 180 gal tank: 71" by 24" by 24" with center overflow. Water movement: 4 x maxi-jet 1200 hook to wavemaker. 2 x Seio M1100 at each end of the tank. Return pump Sedra 20000, suppose to pump 2000 gal per hour.

Wave box placement: right corner of the tank, approximately .5" above water.

Hook it up, turned pulse to max, set wave screw to max as well. The wavebox, suck water into the box, pump it out...and repeat it.

But I don't see much of the wave, I see the pump sucking/pushing the water out and into the box, but no wave. If I turn all the power head off. The top of the water only move a little bit.

Did I do anything wrong ? If I turn all the powerhead on then everything move normal. But still no wave.

Please help, you input help alot.

You have to do *very small* incremental changes on the dial before you will see a waveform. Make a small change and observe for about 15 seconds before changing again. Once you find the waveform you can change a little bit more to find the max wave. I have the same tank and I have my dial at about the 10:00 position and the power is set to max - I get about a 1 to 1.5 inch wave. Make sure that nothing is blocking the output of the wavebox and also make sure you have the correct height - it should not be completely submerged when the wavebox is off.

As bljohnson said, you have to tune the proper frequency on the controller and until you hit it, not much will happen, it can take a few hours to get it tuned.

It was in the front with nothing blocking the out put. I thought it just set everything to max to get the wave.

So accoring to you, I can set the power to max, but I have to play with the pulsing dial to get the wave ?

The water level is that the water marked on the wave box.

no...
set the white dial to the min and watch the tank for 15secs, then slowly increase just a bit til you get a sweet spot.

Wow...I did it, set it back to min. and dialed and wait, it was at 12 o'clock the wave is about 1".

I tried to see if the wave can go any higher, but it seem if i go pas that sweet spot (12), the wave decrease, I thought it suppose to go even higher.

The wave thing is really cool.

Try just super fine, hair width tweaking and maybe you can get it higher. The other things that affect wave height is be sure the pump screen slots face up, the dampening sponge is not over the intake of the pump and the screws that reinforce the rail mounts on the back are in the holes, even if you used the mag holders.

I think 1" wave is enough, I was trying to see if I can get it splash water out of the tank...LOL, every nice piece of equipment.

I wanted max power so I took out the round sponge that cover the pump. Is this okay?

The sponge is to dampen the noise, I woul keep it, it is supposed to go on the back of the pump and should have no impact on flow.

I thought the sponge was suppose to cover the screen of the pump, so I took it out. With out the sponge in there, the pump runs very quite no noise what so ever, I heard the sucking and pusing motion of the water but no noise.

I just measured the wave, it's about 3/4" not quite 1".. I will play with it some more...hehe.

Thanks

I have a 4x2x2 and I've set it to max with the pulse dial at 11 o' clock and that thing is rockin' back and forth ~1.5". Amazing!!!However, I've notice as high as the wave goes, the less the surface skimming I get into my overflow boxes. What would be the most idea setup for this? I do want some nice wave action but I don't want to compromise the tank surface skimming. Thoughts? Thanks.

The driver can be at max power if there is enough room from your water level to the tank edge so that the water isn't sloshing onto the floor, otherwise you need to turn it down.
