It won't work the way you have it laid out, it has to sit up right and stick out of the water. From the notes I have this is the absolute smallest tank it will work in and you would get a .4cm wave. I don't think it is worth it.
You will get a wave but it will be very small, it is probably OK though. I have not tried it so I only know it is possible and approx that the wave size will be 4mm.
