Tunze Wavebox on 120?

Do you think a Wavebox on a 120 (4x2x2) would work? The overflows are in the corners, which may be a problem, but I'm thinking I'll extend the overflow across the entire back of the tank (kinda like an internal Calfo overflow).

Is the Wavebox overkill for the 120? Will it just not work at all on a tank that short?

Thanks for your help!

The wavebox works much better on a longer tank. I looked into them awhile back. They also take up a lot of space in a 4 foot tank.

The primary reason I'm considering the wavebox is for future expansion. I hope to upgrade to an 8 footer when I move into my next house. But if it won't work well or is just too big for a 4 footer, then it makes more sense to wait.

Just toying with the idea. The thought of a wavebox sounds like fun.

What do you consider a lot of space? I have one for my 4x2x2 and feel it hides quite perfectly behind my rock work in that corner :) FWIW, my rock is all dry rock, so I water tested the set up, but it is not in any way set up for use yet :( No stand kind dampens that :( I have 2 streams to compliment the wave box as well.

Mark,

I have a Red Sea Wavemaker if you are interested. Brand new in box - never used. Just an offer....

Gresham, I believe he would have to put it is the front corner as he has rear corner overflows. That is why I mentioned taking up a lot of space. They are a great product.

BTW, how did those new tank and stands come out?

FWIW, I have two waveboxes on my tank, which is 96" long. Just waiting for the tunze y-adapter to come off backorder so I can sync them up through the multicontroller. Don't know how much of a wave you will get in your tank from it (depends on length, rock placement, overflows, etc), but they do produce a very neat pulsed current in your tank, especially cool if you have some LPS, nems, etc. I'd say go for it. As far as space, they aren't much wider/deeper than a stream pump. I still haven't figured out why none of the american companies have come up with something similar...

Thanks, Jeff, but it really doesn't accomplish what the WaveBox does. The wavebox is similar to a surge device. I have an AC Jr I could use as a Wavemaker, but that won't work well with the power heads I have.

Mark, you are correct. I'd have to place the Wavebox in front of one of my corner overflows which may look pretty bad. I might have to mock up one to the same dimensions and see what it will look like in my tank.

I have a vortech in my front corner and true that it does not do what a wave box does and it is not a tunze, but I am over all happy so far. I used to have a stream pump there; it was just too large and that is why I went smaller with the vortech.
