tunze wavebox on 36" wide starphire glass tank

hi all,

i have the new marineland 200 gal. 48x36(width)x27 starphire glass on order and would like to use the tunze wavebox in it. don't have the internal dimensions of the tank but it has dual corner overflow boxes.

any suggestions? also the instruction page indicated 10-15% weakened structure. is that practically (vs. statistically) significant?. what does that translate to everyday usage? would it cause a leak, blow out, cracks, shorten lifespan of the tank? if so by how long?
has anyone had any problem using the wavebox in a glass tank?

any input is appreciated. thanks, tom

I would do two nano wavebox. As far as the noise for corner overflow box go, you can raise your durso a bit and it will fix the problem. BTW, my tank is peninsula with 4 waveboxes. You should be fine. If you need any help reducing the noise, feel free to pm me.

The tank is very wide so you will probably need a wavebox extension to get a good effect. As Shawn said, a well made tank lasts about 20 years, so you will get 17-18 instead and it is rare that anyone keeps a tank more than 10 years, for example my home 180 is now about 10 years old and it is scratched, the trim is faded, the stand has been scuffed and dented by the mop and vacuum cleaner and it is due to be replaced for other reasons. I will probably wait a couple more years but this is fairly typical of a tanks useful life. The surge flow of the wavebox stress the seams and can lead to seam failure and while this usually starts as a leak once a leak starts, a catastrophic failure is usually only hours to days away.

thank you for the advice. i'll probably post/contact you guys for more help once everything is in place. just finished the equipment room and the tiling, electrical is next. i'm hoping everything will be running by mid july. was hoping to debut the new tank on july 4th bbq, but run into snags. thanks again shawnz28, jar*head, and rvitko, tom
