I am not sure on how to get it to start siphoning, I was told it would not need an aqualifter. The directions state that I should place the u-tubes in the water and let fill with water and allow air in, then put the nipple back on. I must not be able to figure it out because it is not working for me, please help.

You put water in both halves, suck on the airline to create a vacuum and then quickly cap the airline.

yep, figured it out, thanks anyway, even with two tubes, not enough suction for a free mag 9.5 I got. Would another u-tube put a good dent in that?

I would not excede two utubes, it is not rated to handle that much flow.
