Tunze's in a 75

Just wondering if anyone could help me out...

I am in the planning stages of a 75 gallon reef and to be honest, know NOTHING about tanks this small. I am downgrading due to 1000 reasons...7 month old child, girlfriend nagging about tanks everywhere, lol. So I have decided to take a 75 and make it the nicest sps tank the world has ever known... :rolleye1:

That said, my 6100's won't work in a 75, so what size do I want and how many? How about 2 x 6025? Plus the return obviously (which I haven't even figured out what the return should be yet...didn't know they made pumps this small lol) so would 2 6025's be enough flow for sps in a 4 foot tank??

You would want more than 2 6025s honestly for SPS. I run 2 6055s in my 58 gallon on a multi controller and I would say start with this, I also have a about 400ish coming from my return and I admit I would like just a bit more flow still with them being on the controller not running full speed all the time. You may want a bit more flow as well in the end if you are not moving much thru your return etc.... but you could add a 6025/45 or two later if desired for instance.

You also coul try dialing the 6100s way back or maybe use one of them dialed back, they dont go as far down as a 6101 does now but still might work out

I have two 6000s in my 75 gallon on a multicontroller and I've thought about adding more. I figure with how I have it set I am getting 20-30xs tank volume per hour. I definitely would want more than 2 6055s but I guess that depends on your setup. Not sure of the flow rating on the 6100s but you could always have them fluctuate from 30 to 70 percent or lower if needed.

The flow rating on a 6100 is about 3100gph...but dialed back with the controller like you said might be a good idea. Maybe I'll do that...and even let em open up every now and again!

You could also put the smaller transformer on them, turning them into 6000s, for less than the cost of buying 6000s. Just a thought. I have 2 6000's in my 75, and am pretty happy with them.
