turbo flotor with OR 2500 and impeller instead of PH 2700

Hello all

I recently bought a 2nd hand turbo flotor 1000 with OR 2500 with impleller needle (maybe the original needle for ph 2700). The pump is not original although inside ar same. For air intake there is a small extension pipe attached to the water intake where you can attach small pipe. But I am not very much satisfied with the size of the bubles very inside of foam cup. So I am bit confused. Does this DIY OR 2500 with the needle has the same performance as the PH2700.

Thanks

Yes the OR2500 and OR2700 are identical pumps except for the impeller. So if the previous owner just used a OR2500 and put the needlewheel on it, it is essentially a OR2700.

But PH2700 has a air inlet just near the water output. And also PH2700 does not have a water inlet (somehow closed but grids to let the water in ) like standard OR 2500 like a pipe. Maybe these can change the performance I do not know.

What I try to do is I try to tune the skimmer such that a
bunch of small bubles is always present on the foam rise pipe inside foam cup. There is not much fish inside so only small bubbles and yellowish water in side the foam cup. I had another TF1000 but with some via aqua pump. With OR2500 it is better but since I did not see the original I cant decide.

If you use TF1000 how is the performance.

Thanks

The 2500 and 2700 are identical with the exception of the needlewheel impeller. The air intake is a part of the skimmer and not the pump, its a small 1/8" or 1/4" nipple that extends into the pumps suction feed line. How are you feeding water to the skimmer? I use a Maxijet 900 powerhead and 12" of 1/2" flex tubing that fits over the powerhead outlet and over the 1/2" tube that sticks out at an angle on the skimmer.
I have used both the Rio and OR and the OR is much better although its huge.
Does yours look like this?

Note the small airline is on the pumps intake side and the 1/2" pipe sticking out for the water feed.

sorry to hi-jack, but i recently bought a used turboflotor as well, i tested it out and is it normal to have the water level only halfway inside the cylinder?the 2 90deg output dont get reached, only through the small tube on the bottom. or is the water level sppose to be higher than that?

thanks. and sorry again

You have to feed the skimmer with a water source, either from an additional pump or from your overflow. See the 1/2" tube sticking out at an angle with nothing attached to it next to the clear riser tube? As I pointed out before I feed mine through a piece of tubing attached to a MJ900 powerhead and this tube. The OR 2700 is just a recirculation pump, it does not feed the skimmer it only recirculates what is inside it.
