Turbo Killed!

Does nyone know what might kill a mexican Turbo by drilling a hole in it? This hole is over 1/8 inch and close to 1/4 inch. These are pics of the shell.. Dont blame it on the pi bull...

Oh ya this is the only thing that I think it may have been? I originally thought it was an astrea snail. But am starting to think differently..

That hole could be from a number of things, but holes are commonly drilled in shells like that from whelks. You can look a this article for more info:

It could be any number of species of snails. It would be easier to narrow it down if you could take a picture of it out of the water with the snail retracted fully into its shell, kind of like the picture in my avatar.

Also, do you know the origin of the snail? (Atlantic ocean, pacific, Florida, Fiji, etc etc.)

OK Thanks.. I am not sure when I will find it again, I threw it in my frag tank and it has vanished... I have no clue where it is from. My live rock is from all over..
