Turning up the Heat!!

Ok, I've got a baby yellow tang, he's only about an inch and a half tall in with my two baby clowns, ones about an inch, the other is about an inch and a half as well.

The clowns were looking a little bit pale, no stress they all get along amazingly well, so the LFS recommended trying to turn up the heat a little bit to see if that would help. (I was keeping my temp around 74*f) right now its at... about 76*f and my YT is pale. Its mostly just his belly looks a lighter yellow almost silverish. So spots, no sores nothing. Turning the heat up by 2 degrees does this? or is this something else?

I take it the LFS recommended to keep it at 74 in the first place?

What's your salinity at?

What are you feeding them?

Not likely that a 2 degree swing will cause a "discoloration" in your fish.

Most tangs will pale and brighten as a normal part of their routine. I have seen YT's be almost completely white. Just monitor the fish for a few days and if it's in a 10 gallon, get it out. The lack of swimming room could be causing it undue stress, which could be causing it to lighten up.

They're only in the ten gallon for a couple days while I'm waiting for the 90g water to do its thing. Keep in mind he's only about 2 inches long including his tail, I turned the temp down very slightly Hes back to a normal color.

the LFS keeps their tanks between 76 and 77 degrees.

Ok, posting a picture to show how big the tang is along with my two baby clowns.

Plus I wanted to show you all my sweet vid.. haha right.

Don't laugh to hard.. lol

and heres a pic.

I still would move the tang out, the tank is too small for it. I am not trying to be the tang police, but how would you feel locked in your bedroom 24 hours a day. It gets old quick.

Temperature is always more a matter of stability than the actual numbers. There are what referred to as cold reefs (68-72), warm reefs (81-83), and everything in between. It would be better to match the temperature to the temperatures that they would be exposed to in nature.

u should definitely keep it at 76- 78 because that's the sea normal temperature,, 74 is too low
The average temperatur of about 1000 coral reefs spread throughout the world is about 81 f = (26c) !

Im an 80 degree guy, tank is too small, gradual temp swings are ok (acclimation!) and I would treat that 10 with copper for a month prior to moving those two in to the 90. Ich can be present with out the sign of spots. Just my take.

68-72 would be an exceptionally cold reef- as in only a few of the very coldest reefs. 81-83 would be a perfectly average reef, not a warm one.
