Turnover / Flow for SPS Tank

Hi. I am in the process of putting together an SPS dominated tank. I purchasing equipment. I am trying to figure out what sort of water turnover I need and hence size of pump for 120 gal tank. Is 10x per hour or a 1,200 gal per hour pump assuming all flow goes to tank the right size?

What is the size of the sump? Chances are your overflows will max out at 1200 -1400 gph. I recommend a turnover rate of 3-5 times the volume. In your case, 400 - 700 gph.

In tank flow (Power Heads) is more important.

Sump size is still to be determined, but I am thinking approximately the same footprint as the tank, 48 x 24. Around 90 gal volume. May include a refugium as part of the sump. I already purchase a Reef Octopus 350XS skimmer - I think it is rated for 450 gallon we'll stocked aquarium, but I thought better to go over than under capacity on skimmer. Skimmer foot print needs 18 x 18 clearance.

For in tank flow I am going to go with two MP 40's on opposite ends of aquarium. May add some Sicce pums on the back to give more random flow.
