Hi guys,
I got a Gumdrop Scorpionfish a month or two ago, and it's doing great. It eats everything I squirt towards it, brine, mysis, flake, etc. Amazing little guy, fun to watch.
I will be going on a few business trips which will take me away from the tanks for about 3 days to 2 weeks on end. I can have my regular fish taken care of, but spot feeding this guy may be a bit harder for me to trust in other inexperienced people's care. (it's easy enough to teach how to turn off pumps, sprinkle flakes etc for the clowns and flame angel, but spot feeding with a turkey baster after thawing foods etc is gonna be tough).
I hate to keep having people babysit my stuff (thanks norman) so I'm thinking of selling/trading this guy to a good home.
I bought him/her from sharkysreef, already feeding off dead food. it's tiny, in fact the larger mysis shrimp can't even fully fit in its mouth. definately loves high flow, but hides in crevices sometimes, poking it's head out.
It looks just like the one pictured, in fact that is the exact one I have.
I just want to see the interest at the moment, I'll keep him until after thanksgiving weekend probably then i'll have to find him a new home.
A few things to note:
Scorpionfish - this guy is venemous just like other scorpions, but it's tiny, so unless you go for him with bare hands, it's unlikely it'll attack you from across the tank.
Feeding - needs to be target fed, and he's pretty darn small, so probably won't do well in a HUGE tank with tons of rock. I have three small baseball sized rock in a 8g tank, and sometimes it takes me awhile to find where he's hiding. to find him just look for a pink head sticking out.
Behavior - similar to anglers, where he stands on his fins, but he swims really fast to grab food, kinda zips out, then zips back into his current hiding spot. doesn't do much hunting, just sits and waits.
I'm not really looking to sell, maybe a trade for something =/
Thanks for looking!
