I recently bought two tomato clowns non paired, one is larger than the other but not paired. One hangs out in the upper left in a large long polyp toadstool and the other in a sebae nem in the bottom middle they both know each other is their but they don't fight... They've been in there for 1.5 weeks will they eventually pair up or no?

Just like with my ex-wife and me.... Sometimes things dont work out.

BUT in your case... they need some time to get introduced, know their boundaries, play some tag and chase each other around, THEN... determine who is the female.

This is not overnight. There are some good books on clowns (in general) and a few good posts on here about paring them.

Cliff notes:

It make take many months for one to submit to the other and get along. Patience is required, it is not a shotgun wedding.

Does the bigger one rush the smaller one? The smaller should then submit by having a little spasm. If they ignore each other they aren't pairing. You could wait a little longer. If they both fight without one doing the spasm they are both female.
