Two dead Tunzes...

Hi Roger. I have two controllable Tunze 6105's that appear to have died. The warranty is out, but it is disheartening since I have finally got to use them for three weeks (taken that long for me to get a tank up and going). What type of troubleshooting do you recommend, or should I just send them in for repair?
Thanks, Tim

Were they used before and stored or just unboxed and used 3 weeks? When did you buy them?

I purchased the pumps new on 11/13/10 & 11/22/10; they remained boxed until last month when they were placed in use. I doubt I can find the receipts.

Do the power supplies light up? Have you opened the pumps and disassembled the drive units to be sure the magnets are not fused to the shaft? The pumps are bench tested and in doing the test they add 5ml of 20% glycerin, when the pumps sit a long time dust and congealed glycerin could possibly lock them up.

I don't have an easy answer, I would need to get them here and test them. The only other thing that would come to mind is to disconnect any controller that may be being used in case the controller is the issue.

Just include a note with your return address and phone number-

Hi Roger. I finally got it fixed. I had to go through three power strips before I got it to work, even though the first two strips worked for other pieces of equipment. Thanks for all your help! By the way, do you know a trick or tip to get the Apex Tunze controller din to stay in the Tunze controller? I've scoured the Apex forums to no avail.

Generally you need to pull back or trim the rubber boot on the plug so it can insert far enough.
