Two different color monti caps growing together how common? Pics

Those look amazing. I tried it about 9 months and had no luck. I couldnt get any of them to grow together. I made two frags like this one. Guess I will have to try again.

As you can see I used Purple, green with purple rim, tan with purple rim and orange.

hermanx7- Those look like they are actually doing very well together. Thanks for that pic. Was there a white line of death between the colors?


Thanks for the replies guys I'm glad some are enjoying this as much as I am. I thought some might be interested in this, I will try and keep you posted. To tell you the truth I kinda just forgot about some of these discs and just let them grow out without really paying much attention to them, I will try and get some updated pics of the other colors soon. I took this pic yesterday of another spot I noticed on one of the frags when I was moving it.

I have a "Hodags" Montipora (Confusa) from DR F&S and a true Superman that have encrusted a rock. Where they meet they kind of grow into each other with out and burning or iritation to the other. I seems to work on some other montys to, not just caps. I will try to get a pic.

Hey guys, how much light do montis require?

I have a 6 bulb t5 fixture (only 5 have light realy because 1 is pure actinic. How close to the bulbs should I have the montis ?

(bulbs 4 inches from surface).

They are some of the lowest light SPS, but still require good lighting relative to other corals. I would say if you put them higher up in the tank you should be fine.

BTW I am trying to get my monti caps on the left to grow together but they aren't really doing it yet. I love the look of the caps growing into each other.

Thank you. This one was taken on 4/1/08...

And this one was taken on 7/15/08....

I have about 6 or 7 frag discs that I made up, they have been in the frag tank for awhile now, going to combine 3 or 4 of them together and put them in my display tomorrow. Don't know if I posted a pic of my display but here is an old one....
