Two fish down, need some feedback

Okay, so my tank has been up for a few months, and it's had some fish in there with no problems, but tonight when i came home, my firefish and one bangaii cardinal were just dead out of the blue. And I can't figure out what happened. They had no discoloration, cloudy eyes, white spots, or frayed fins. They seemed to be gasping for air when i came in, but nitrates are fine. What's going on? thanks

So i just added an air stone in case some gasses would be in the water. I hope that will do something.

Did you use a non-fish safe glass cleaner? Sometimes if you use windex or bleach to clean the aquarium glass it can pass through the glass and contaminate the entire aquarium.

Those substances CANNOT pass through glass. If you sprayed them in the vicinity of the tank it is possible it could cause problems. I have always used windex sprayed on a paper towel to clean my tank glass and it has NEVER been an issue.

H. crispa nem
mexican turbos
nassarias
horseshoe crab
polyps and ricordia
one bangaii cardinal & one firefish dead

three months

-Did you QT them, if so how long and under what
conditions?
No QT

What do you use for filtration?
berlin system--- skimmer rated for 225 gal,
live rock, plus some carbon and mechanical filtration


What is your tank maintenance schedule?
- water changes, how much how often--- I've not done a water change in it yet
- water source --- well
What are your current tank parameters?
-temp---82 F
-SG --- 1.025
-pH --- 8.2
-Nitrates --- almost 0 last time i checked
-Nitrites --- none
-Ammonia --- none
-Alkalinity --- not checked it

i haven't had any more trouble that i can see, but i'm keeping a close watch on everything. fingers are crossed for no more losses, especially with my new guys.

the tank has excellent filtration and biological filtration. I'm sure it can handle the bioload.
