I am posting this with hopes it helps many frustrated "Two Little Fishes Magnetic Veggie Clip" consumers like myself. :furious:
If you have ever owned a "Two Little Fishes Magnetic Veggie Clip Feeder" for your Algae sheets then you are very well aware of the design flaw these things have where the Black plastic piece which the veggie clip its self is attached to and the white magnet part, these two come apart.
This Glue softens when in water and the two come apart after a few uses leaving the device useless.
Well, I have found a simple fix for the problem and it costs a couple of cents.
Lets get started, go to your local hardware store and purchase 1- 10-32x1/2" Stainless Steel machine screw. (Pan head style is preferred)(I got mine from L*wes
There are many different types of Stainless Steel on the market, so to make sure it doesn't rust over time, I used a little aquarium safe Silicone on my fix to be safe.
Now, working on only the half which goes in the tank, being your black Veggie clip part has already fallen off, put that to the side and fully disasemble the magnetic part. This will be the Black plastic which goes against the glass and the white center. (you'll notice a rubberband which make these two halfs water tight, don't damage or loose it)
You'll notice the magnet is epoxied to the black half and the white half will have some foam with a void in the center where the magnet fits into.
Take a 1/4 drill bit and drill a hole in the center of the "White" half ONLY and put a little silicone around the threads of the Stainless Steel screw and start screwing it into the center of the white half from the inside out. (starting in the void in the foam)
Now that the screw is in place take the Black plastic part which holds the veggie clip and make a pin hole in the center of the head (I used a sewing niddle, this helps release traped air when screwing it onto the screw) put a little more silicone on the threads and screw the Black Veggie clip half onto the Stainless Steel screw.
Now all thats left is to make sure the rubber band is clean and in place on the white half, reasemble the two halfs of the magnet. (you might notice you need to push on one side of black edge to release trapped air between the Black & white halfs, I used my nail)
AND YOUR DONE, This fix took me all of about 10-mins. :dance:
Wait 24-hours for the silicone to dry and your Veggie clip is fixed for EVER!
