two MP10's for a 100 long?

I'm picking up a 100 long this weekend (72" x 18" x 17"). As you can see from the dimensions it's a fairly shallow tank. The middle portion of the tank will be the return from my sump. I was thinking of adding two MP10's (mounted on the back of the tank) on the left and right sides for flow. I think MP 40's would be overkill due to the fact that the tank is so shallow. What do you think? Good idea or not?

They will work fine if you keep a lot of softies, but you may find you need a little more snot if you're into SPS.

How thick is your glass? an MP 10 will only attach up to 3/8" (9.5mm) thickness. Do you plan on painting the back? my MP10's will not attach to the back of my 75G through the paint. If it was me I'd try for three MP10's along the back glass thickness willing. Honestly, I think the best option would be two MP40's one on each side in anti-sync mode dialed down to about 40%.

I personally don't think 2 Mp10s is going to work for you for that length of tank. I have one MP10 in my solana and it's not too much for it. you're not going to get enough flow for that length of tank in my opinion.

Yes, the back will be painted, so maybe mounting on the back won't be an option. If that's the case then that changes everything. I would probably have to go with two MP 40's on each end. I wanted to keep the ends "clean" so to speak with no harware and was hoping two MP10's mounted to the back would billow off the front glass and be enough flow.

Emerald525,
At what mode and setting do you run yours at (50%, 100%...)

I don't think I can use the MP20 in combination with the wireless driver, without upgrading it to an MP40.

I use 2 mp40s on my 125, 6' long tank, along with one Tunze(1875 gph) and my returns(900-1100 gph). You will need 2 mp40s no matter what you keep IMO.
