Two part dosing schedule ?

Ok so I got my dosing pumps and getting ready to set them up for ALK and Calcium on my RKL and stopping the kalk in the topoff. Not really sure how much to start with in my 60 gallon system so for those with similar size systems that are dosing two part maybe you could give me a ball park figure. To those with auto dosing setups do you dose in increments over a 24 hr period just during the night hrs or all at once?

Getting your 2 part dialed in can take some time. I did mine by doing a water change on a Sunday, testing Ca and Kh, not adding any supplements all week, doing another water change the next Sunday, and retesting Ca and Kh.

The difference between reading 1 and reading 2 tells you how much Ca and Kh you will need to supplement to meet the demand of your system. Then use the reef chemistry calculator, or the one at BRS (depending on your 2 part recipe) to see how much you would need to add per day to keep your readings even.

I might do this a couple of times before automating.

I use drews dosers, which are 1.5mm per minute, and digital timers. I dose each part in very small amounts 10 times a day. I alternate so that I'm not dosing Kh and Ca at the same time.
