We were finally able to get ahold of an Atlantic Blue Tang last week, after waiting all summer for them to become available again from the supplier our LFS uses. He / she is only a juvenille (yellow with bright blue eyes & just larger than a quarter), but is doing great so far -- swimming and eating well. My wife loves him and has named him Baby Blue Eyes.
No problems, just a couple of questions...
At approximately what size / age will our tang start to turn blue?
As a juvenille, do they swim together in a school? I ask because ours doesn't like to be too far from any of the other fish in our tank (a pair of Ocellaris clowns, a lawnmower blenny, a sixline wrasse). He spends a lot of time swimming with our clowns (we don't have an anemone, so I'm not concerned about him getting coaxed into becoming dinner). I wonder if he's just curious of them or if it's more along the lines of "safety in numbers?"
Thanks!
