Two splits of a BTA causing problems with each other?

I had a bta that split a while ago (3-4 months or so), both healed (one taking longer than the other but healing none-the-less). Then things started going downhill and both are much more paler in color. Parameters are all fine, i feed the anemone about 1-2 a week, they are under a 250watt halide 12k bulb. Two O. Clownfish host them, alternating between the two splits.

My question is, because the anemones started losing color after they split and healed, is their counterpart causing the bleaching? Or is it an unrelated matter?

Other than being significantly paler in color, they seem healthy otherwise, still very sticky in the presence of food, mouth stays shut, no noodlely stuff leaking etc.

The clones would not cause the bleaching between each other. It is something else. Normally high temps or lighting issues cause the bleaching.

Have you changed your bulbs lately? How high has your temp gone this summer? Were the anemones shaded under a rock for a week or so after the split?

Keep up with the feedings. The color will come back.

The temps remain between 82 and 85, there has been times this summer where they've gone up to 87 but never above that and never for longer than a few hours.

My bulbs are getting kind of old, reaching the 6 month mark or so now. My sps are still growing at a consistant rate so i dont know if it is a lighting problem. Both anemones are slightly concealed in a cave but when fully expanded 80% of the anemone gets light.

Your temps are playing a big role. Try to keep them below 83. What type of lights and how long are they on?

I dont think my temps are the cause of the issue.

12k 250W halide on for 6 hours

I agree. Anemones typically split do to stress. It is likely that after the split the stress continued, causing it to bleach.

Anemones of the same clone do not cause stress on each other.

Work on getting your temperature down. Sometimes adding a cheap fan blowing across the surface of the tank is all you need. Make sure all of your other water parameters are where they need to be.
