Hi, my name is Ty, but you can call me Tyson. I am currently staying at Lewisville, Dallas Texas. I just recently got into this hobby by my buddy evan and with my buddy evan. I started with a 55 gallons tank i bought today on August 3rd 2008 which comes with a stand and the tank. I am currently in the process of cleaning out that used tank with 3:1 ratio of hot water and vinegar. Letting it sit throughout the night as i typed this. Soon, in the morning, i will be heading out to homedepot to start buying some woods and stains so i can build my bottom shelves and my canopy so i will start measuring it tomorrow. Im thinking of going with a nice dark cherry brownish to go with the desk that i have in my room.

Right now, i am saving up for some lighting for my 55 gallons tank, i might think of getting 2 150w 14k MH. If anyone knows any brand that is decent price that works well for your tank, please post, i would appericate it.

Im also saving up for some Protien Skimmer, once again anyone knows a good protien skimmer brand that is decent price that works well, please post.

I already have a 1100 gph powerheads thanks to Evan who is very nice and willing to give it to me to keep (forever i hope) and im trying to get a Hydor Koralia 4 Circulation Pump/Powerhead UL 1200 gph. Which will be good enough for my tank.

I am definitely gettin the filter guys RO/DI filter so i dont have to waste money yearly for RO/DI water that i do not even know if its PURified or not when i buy them at the store.

If anything else that i am missing or need, please post because this is just the set up for my tank (Rocks and fish are for later set up)

Here are some pictures of what my tank look like. Its your average tank so far.

sounds like you are off to a great start and have a great friend to help you out.

for lights I would check out icecap setups they are not to bad of price and their coustomer service is awesome.

for skimmers, octopus, das, msx are very decent skimmers that won't cost an arm and a leg.
