Just got the Sigma 150-500mm and got this in my back yard. I think I need the bigger support for the camera and lens.

Hey now! I'm sure some other vulture thinks he / she is a real looker. Just not any human! Definitely a case of "beauty is in the eye of the beholder".

I bet that lens would crush a Wally World tripod.

I think vultures are beautiful, considering how different species work together to achieve a common goal. Each is designed for a specific carrion task i.e. 1 breaks open the shell, one gorges itself to make the carrion managable, and (the one pictured) picks the meat off the bones. The turkey vulture is like a scout...and the other vultures just follow the leader.

I'll get a pic this fall they start to mass around my house before they migrate. I frequently will see 40 or more soaring overhead.
I have a Manfrotto 055XDB with Midi ball head. But the lens could use a little more support in the way of a bigger plate to mount to both the cam and lens.

They have hundreds at NASA's Vehicle Assembly Building. It's getting to be a problem. I head a rumor that some kind of falcon is dive bombing bald eagles as they fly by the building as well but I have never seen it.
