Uhh... I don't think I'm dealing with ich...

Yes, last night they went into clean water.

Steve, when you say add formalin into the TTM tank at the end of the cycle, do you mean add it at dip concentrations (i.e. 20 drops/gallon) for the last 1 hr before transfer or the bath concentration (I think 5 drops per gallon) for the whole day?

Dip concentration for 45 to 50 minutes before moving the fish to the next tank. I think one hour or maybe even longer will work too - so far none of the fish I dipped at this concentration seemed to be bothered.

Well, luckily I don't think I'm dealing with velvet. I'm sure the fish would have been toast by now. I've done two formalin baths between transfers, not sure if it's helping but the fish is very much better looking now!

It's gained its color back and is eating NLS pellets like mad. I've done three transfers at this point and will continue on with it.

IF this were brook or velvet, wouldn't this tang be dead by now? TTM seems to be helping ALOT.

How fast (or slowly) velvet and brook kills a fish depends very much on the overall condition of the fish. An otherwise fit and healthy fish can hold the parasites at bay for a while before succumbing to them.

A bacterial infection could be another explanation for what you observed.

You know, I was thinking maybe a secondary bac. infxn too. I have really good 5th gen fluroquinolone drops for the eyes, and so I dosed the TTM tank with about 5 -10 drops, and it could be coincidental, but it seemed to help his condition too. I've been doing that for the past few days.

I was almost convinced it was brook: mucous-like slime coming off him, acting letharic and loss of color.

Then the paleness of his skin made it look like it was dusted in flour, so I thought velvet. I'll do a few more transfers and hope for the best for now. I decided not to medicate with CP yet because I don't see any bumps.
