wow----I have never seen this from using red slime remover. Can you post some more details.

Ronny--have you tested your ro/di water for ammonia. I have read somewhere on here that some cities have switched using chlorine to chloramamine for water treatment. This can break down in the ro/di filter to ammonia. If you are adding ammonia to your tank in small doses this could end up as nitrates. Nitrates will also fuel cyano ect. They could be consuming the nitrates quick enough so you don't get a reading.
You might want to check with PaulB on this--I believe he had this problem.

I would agree......I remember a poster from about year back who was Ricky66....hmm sounds the same person

lets not even go there----I know Ronny----definetly not even the same guy.
Some problems don't have easy solutions and can become quite frustrating to others.

Well the Cyno if thats what it is and most here aree thats what it is and it's green. I just read another thread like mine and the ultra red slime didn't work. $19.99 for a box of it here. hate to buy it if it doesn't work !

I really don't know what you have in there as I can't see it but if Red Slime Remover does not work, it is probably something else, like an algae which would not be affected by that medication.

I would not use Red Slime Remover but I have used it a few times in the past and it worked in 2 days. I prefer to use Chemi Clean and have used it numerous times and my tank is older than most people here so I know it did not do anything detrimental to anything including corals.

But as I said, I don't know what you have. That slimy green stuff could be an algae. Either way there is too much DOC (disolved organic carbon) in your tank. I know you only feed flaked every 3 days (which is terrible practice by the way)
You need to stir that tank up and suck out whatever you can. A diatom filter would be nice but you can do it with a canister.
Good luck

can you take a pic of your tank and show us what you have,i thought cyno was red but you keep telling everyone what you have is green so maybe its not cyno.I have to clean my glass everyday or it starts to turn green and with you being gone for 3 days it might just be a build up, i would try and feed something else beside flake food, i know from your other posts that your picky with the looks of your tank(not trying to start an issue here) but maybe its normal algea that everyone has in there tank, i have some spots that are green and then turn to purple so thats why i ask if you could post a pic. Just dont hate on me.lol

I'm going to try to take another few pics mustang and no I don't hate you. Thanks for the flowers and I'm picky just want it right. And this stuff is takeing over. Not normal as far as i can tell but what do I know!!

Ronny

-Side note- Theres nothing wrong about being picky about your tank. ;)

Have you considered changing your food type and/or habits? I'm still relatively new here, but I've heard that some foods have stuff in them that just in general isn't good. That could be a possible solution.

=]
Hope I helped a little.

Ronny - If you use Red Slime control you will need to cut off your skimmer after you dose each time for 24 hours.
That stuff makes your skimmer go nuts with microbubbles. Some skimmers you can just cut down the flow and are fine.

I got a seaclone 100 was new in box purchased in 1997 was top of line back then. It skims thats all I can say for it. it would take a year to fill cup at rate it skims. i even put the $8.00 brass valve that was sugested and i have to keep tweeking it. Just going to let tank run for a while. I got a snail shell that is covered with the Green slime going to show it to them and see if it's cyno . Was kina hard for everyone here to be exact with the pics I posted . was going to try and get a better shot of it today but daughter just borrowed my camera. Oh well It an't going any where.

You can tell by the sand how I have a power head directed across the substrate.

Hello

 your starting to sound like my wife:lol:

the smaller soap dish is inside the tank with chaeto in it. I just held the other one up for comparison.

Since that picture I have hooked up a sump to that tank and have the larger one inside the sump full of chaeto
