WOW:bigeyes: Those are Beautiful...I would be interested too! I googled it too, and read that these do not pulse, which is one of the coolest parts of having Xenia isn't it?

I started with a small single stalk frag, I now have to use a weedeater to keep it under control. It will grow a stalk, lay over and attach, and "walk", leaving a small piece behind. Within a week, the small piece has grown polyps and starts the whole process over again. It looks cool, but it can take over like any other type of xenia.

I've had this xenia for sometime now, it is blue/purple, it doesn't grow tall and does not pulsate.... looks like the first picture, but I can't confirm the origin of mine. It's very nice anyways.

That's purty, y'all. I'm fine with the idea that it doesn't pulse. Where did you get it?

I think 1st pic is not a true UMI. UMI has more of a brown stem with bluish crown. You might have a type of clove colony.
Also I have found selling them would be overnight with heat packs (duh) but not in plastic bags. Containers with some extra bags inside to prevent any swishing of the water.
I also have a blue bali that is pulsing. Almost like the RedSea but not as aggressive and does not grow as wild.
I tossed out about 1/2 a gal worth after reading an article about how xenia colonies can release nitrates if a colony dies off. Did not want to chance a overnight crash. about 45% of the back glass in my 65 was covered with the UMI and RedSea. Which the RedSea took over as usual.

i had a HUGE colony..ill see if i got pics still....fragged mine about 5 different times softball size frags and so far im the only one that doesnt have it anymore... all mine started to look great getting big and then the next thing i know there isnt a sign of it anywheres.....not sure what happened to it...thats the only coral i lost...my regular pink pulsing always walks away and comes back but teh blue never did

this was mine....crappy pic...cant tell the blue due to the old point and shoot i used to use...but this was it right before it all went away

I picked up the Octopus Ink Heteroxenia from Live Aquaria, which is supposed to be blue like the pictures in this thread. Didn't arrive like that, its sort of a pale pink/tan like regular varieties.

Maybe it needs more actinic lighting than I have.

They are pretty upfront about the color of the lights things are photographed under. 20k halides will turn anything blue, especially white substrate.

Everything I've ordered form the divers den has been completely accurate, but the regular coral selection isn't always similar to the photos.
