Undecided between ghl and neptune

Well your in the GHL forum so what do you think were gonna say? :D

I at one time use to have a Neptune Sys. AC Jr. and it did fulfilled my basic needs. Not long ago, I took the plunge for the Profilux Plus II and I am glad I made my purchase because of all the expandability opportunities at hand. IMO, the GHL is a true aquarium computer that can control anything you throw at it and the support is top-notch. Any time I have a question, it gets answered in much less than 24hrs.

With all the available upgrades on the Profilux, it was really a no brainer for me when it came to deciding if the upgrade was worth the money.

Not much to add to that really other than

Constant free software updates
Consistant releases of new add on's
Probably the highest level of support available from both manufacturer directly and distributors
World renowned (not just limted to USA market like other makes)
More features than any other controller on the market both past present and future role outs.

Other than that the rest has been said.

if you are still unsure drop us a line directly at sales@aqua-digital.com for more one to one advise.

I am new to controllers and can vouch for top notch support - every question or concern of mind has been addresses with hours if not minutes.

Equipment is first rate - like mini PC vs. sealed box. Unit looks very good as display in living area.

The only down side is demand seems to ahead of supply!

not any more i am sitting on top of a huge order in from Germany being shipped out to all retailers today!

We are now matching demand - JUST!

Well the first time i seen these 2 years ago i knew i had to have one. I dumped my AC and went with a real controller with friendly and fast help. Matthias and Michael are great. No other controller company listens to its customers as much!
I have been running it for awhile and its been SMOOTH.

I've had mine since May 2007 and it's been flawless. The software/firmware updates has expanded this controllers capabilities ten fold since then. The probes and cards are top notch. With all those improvements over the past year, I would have to say this was a good investment.

What I didn't like about the Neptune when I was in the market for controllers was the upsell tactics and it's cheezy appearance. It probably does a good job, but by the time I had everything I wanted/needed, it would have approached the price of a Profilux.

Availability has improved as well as there used to be only one US distributor. I've just dealt with one of the easiest guys I've dealt with in this hobby over at Cherry Corals. He carries the full line of Profilux and if it's in stock, it's shipped the same day.

Throw German engineering into the mix, it was a no-brainer.

I don't think Neptune Systems or Digital Aquatics are in the same league with GHL. Actually they shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence!

There is not match for the expandability found on the Profilux.

The Profilux seemd to be an awesome controller, at least it looks to be. I just got mine today and havent hooked it up yet.

I'm in the same boat, as deciding between Netune and Profilux. I was inches away from going with Biomatix but have since totally place that down on the list for various reasons, which I will go over if anyone asks.

I have several questions I would like to get clarified. Is there the ability with Profilux to view and control remotely, i.e. through a web page? I've read about WAN and LAN features, but am still unsure whether I can set this up to somehow monitor my tanks from away. There are other features around this that A III seems to have (like customizable HTML pages) that Profilux does not. Could someone elaborate on these?

Can multiple tanks be monitored & controlled?

Can there only be 2 float switches?

why only 8 timers? Has that changed since the comparison was put up on AquariumControllers.com?

Stephen

The profiLux can be viewed anywhere in the world providing you have the LAN or WLAN you just require the ProfiLux desk top software, I am aware of people carrying this on a USB memory stick and accessing it from there.

You also have the option of global text messaging where you will have the ability to access your profiLux.

Yes you can control multi tanks, the ProfiLux is inter networkable also.

Max of 3 level sensors on the EX model

Yes there are 8 timers, but as yet we have not had a single issue with this.

The ProfiLux is also THE most updated product on the market today, having constant software functionality increments and a long line of product releases, one of which will be announced newxt week, on top of the chiller and SMS module, and others to follow.

It also offers the largest support network for any product of its kind, with direct access not only to the distributor (us) but also the developer and company owner (Matthias)

Please let us know if we can help further

Best wishes
Michael

I'll go ahead and post this other question here, since it may be useful to several other readers of the thread.

I've been looking at the different packages you offer, and see that there are Plus, Plus II, Plus II EX, all the way up to a Plus II EX Pro with WAN. It appears that each of these packages "build" on the prior one, offering additional faetures and/or HW, correct?

My question is - although I'm sure you get cost savings by buying a more robust system in the beginning, in theory could a Plus beginner package be made eventually into a Plus II EX Pro with LAN by adding the add-ons? In other words, since I know I will eventually want all or most of the features, is there a base line package I need to get in order to be able to fully upgrade it, or are all the packages fully upgradeable?

Stephen

Hiya
Yes any package can be made into any one of the other packages above it, a dealer can supply you a package OR they can build you a system that suits you completely.

The choice is yours, package that suits your budget and required equipment level

OR

Bespoke tailored to your exact needs.

As I say the choice is yours

yes yes and yes :c)

Bottom line is the Profilux Plus II is the same in all of them and the only difference is the accessories that are bundle in by default in each package. You can start off with a base unit and add any of the current expansion/module card or any new module that will be released in the future... this is one of the nice things about the Profilux, the unit is very flexible.

There are 3 series of the controller:
- Profilux II
- Profilux Plus II
- ProfiLux Light 2 Controller

The Profilux Plus II is the one that has the most posibilities...

You missed two

ProfiLux terra

And the most desired and purchased

ProfiLux Plus II EX which comes with salinity and Redox as standard, plus you get the 3rd level port and 2 more L ports for varible control, still leaving 3 expansion ports free that can be used with dual control cards giving in effect 6 further expansion ports

So if I wanted the upmost future flexibility, you would recommend the ProfiLux Plus II EX as the package at a minimum to start with?
