Underrated reef fish

I think damsels are WAY underrated! Often the entire group is judged upon the merrits of the more well-known, and yes, aggressive dominos & yellowtail. There are SO many species of damsels out there. My orange tail sunshine damsel is the meekest fish in the tank, and always getting beaten up on by the others, but takes it all in stride and with bounces back for more.

I think other fish that are underrated include the hogfish group... of which I am a HUGE fan of, since they remind me of a wrasse's personality. I like goby's & dragonets as well, but I think there are so many people who have them, not much needs to be said. It all depends what you mean by "underrated".

My vote goes for Green Chromis! They are the most docile fish ive seen and change colors. Well kind of. They school and only cost 3.99!

I have had damsels for the longest time and recently I decided I've had enough of their attitude. Very nasty fish, even attacks my hands when I try to do maintainance. I must say though, I just got a six lined wrasse and never realize how beautiful it is. I got it originally to be my pest control manager, but I think she has more than just that to show.

I used to have a domino damsel that would attack my arms in the tank -- I always wondered what that bumping feeling was till I looked down one day. It would also do the old tail smack to my Panther Grouper that got tired of it one day --the end.
The panther grouper is an awesome fish by the way with its finnage and irredescent gleem it has.

I like the shape of the domino --reminds me of a Spartan war helmet -- I have the Hawaiian Snowflake Damsel now which has more White tear drop down the side and there is even a Gold Belly Domino verison out there. Then you have the colorful ones like Fiji Devil, or the intense Blue Damsel, I have a nice Peach w/ Yellow Talbots -- So durable!! he got beat up by the blue damsel when i tried adding it to the 60, so i had to take it out--it got beat up again in my 20 by the fiji devil --so now its fully recovered in my 3 gallon eclipse which I never do water changes and have a piece of Haitian live rock curing in there-- damsels are champs.

Firefish are cool -- I had 2 one killed the other and they get dull and boring wth age though and same with my clown

Royal grammas are nice --I have 2 together which look awesome set off w/ the intense purple of the fridmani pseudochromis plus grammas from brazil come in orange too.

I've been getting into Pseudochromis lately -- I have a fridmani orchid, but have been looking at the splendid or the dutoiti ones (not the neon like all the pet stores mistake), or the red ones are sharp too like the vampire pseudochromis but experts say they are pure terror

angels are nice -- i have a potter's and like the passer as well, bu tthe angel body shape is a little boring for me as well

golden butterfly's are gorgeous also

I have a nice solar wrasse that is frequently cleaned by my neon goby and was looking at the exquisite wrasse also
